Good Day!
I am writing to announce our first blogging adventure!
My husband and I will going to ICELAND in just a few short weeks!
We picked our destination by taking into account what country would have gorgeous landscapes, unique weather, and stunning views. We couldnt be happier with our choice! When thinking of all the waterfalls, glaciers, and romantic views of the sea, we unknowningly put our travel blinders on… this meaning we failed to see that Iceland is EXPENSIVE! Whoops… For those of you who do not know, we are folks who work in the service industry. This means we are budget masters and life hacks are essential!! After doing some research on hotels, hostels, and airbnb’s, we realized that we were going to have to get creative and experience Iceland in a different way than we expected. For us that means … CAMPING!!
While I am thrilled to go, I was at first apprehensive to camp. I do not handle myself well when it comes to snakes and spiders. Two pretty numerous beings that live in nature. I was extremely nervous to be out in the landscape with these little creatures fearing what we would have happen if one of us was bitten unexpectedly. Honestly I felt a little scared to go.
Luckily, after doing some research, I found out a few unexpected things about Iceland.
- NO SNAKES = YAY!!
- NO poisonous spiders
- Bears = Nope, except for an occasional polar bear (Spotted in 2016)
- No endemic mosquitoes
- Campsites are EVERYWHERE (They have WC and other facilities depending on the campsite. Who knew Iceland had the best camping options available!)
Knowing this, has made me get very excited to have my first abroad camping endeavor. I can’t wait to get there and experience camping for essentially my first time as an adult. This is a fun adventure that I never though possible. I will be blogging about my endeavors as we travel, with recommendations for budgeting, campsites, food, and all sorts of life hacks along the way for any interested readers!
Talk with y’all soon!
